I started writing this comment by disagreeing with what you wrote in your post, and as I wrote down my examples where I thought things were different from my perspective, I realised that actually - you are right. The choices which I made were triggered by an event (circumstance), and if it wasnt for these events, I would have maintained my status quo.

Interesting post... and I disagree...
To say we have no free will means we are all victims of circumstance. This is not correct... We are certainly influenced by our circumstances, but how we choose to react to those circumstances is a personal choice given to us by our free will. And having free will does not make us products of our nature. Being a product of my nature implies I have no free will... But I choose not to be a product of my nature - it may have an influence, but ultimately I have the choice! :)
